Write a surface list for every room
Walls, ceilings, doors, windows and baseboards should be identified separately. Say what you want to keep unchanged. Include approximate room sizes and ordinary photos. A proposal that says one room may otherwise leave you unsure whether its ceiling and trim are included.
Flag damage before color choices
Point out holes, peeling areas, old patches and stains. Explain recurring problems or known moisture. Ask which preparation is part of painting and whether any wall repair needs its own scope. Color selection alone does not define how an existing surface will be prepared.
Agree on material supply
Record who purchases paint and how color and sheen selections will be confirmed. If you already have material, share the product details and quantity. Discuss any expectation of matching an existing finish before assuming the result will look identical.
Make occupied rooms workable
Ask who moves furniture, what needs to be removed from walls and how personal belongings will be protected. Discuss access, pets and the order of rooms. Confirm the schedule with the team after the surface condition and scope have been reviewed.
